Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about prices, diagnostics, and drop-off.
Pricing & diagnostics
How much does a diagnostic cost?
The diagnostic for desktops and gaming PCs is a flat $50. On a gaming PC, the same $50 diagnostic includes CPU/GPU load testing, temperature checks, and crash reproduction. Either way you get written findings and a quote. Laptops have their own $50 laptop diagnostic with written findings.
Is the diagnostic fee credited toward the repair?
No. The diagnostic is its own charge and is not credited toward the repair. It pays for the testing time and the written findings and quote.
Can I get a quote without paying for a diagnostic?
Every job starts with the paid diagnostic ($50 for desktops and gaming PCs). The diagnostic is how the problem gets found and how the written quote is put together.
Will you do any work without my approval?
No. Nothing is repaired until you approve the written quote, and nothing goes over the approved amount without a new OK. Any change over $25 or 10% is re-approved by text.
Do your prices include parts?
No. Menu prices are labor only. Parts and any applicable sales tax are extra, and each part is listed on the quote before anything is ordered.
Can I pay extra to get my PC done sooner?
Yes. Priority service is +$10 and moves you to the front of the line when parts are on hand.
What I work on
Do you work on laptops or phones?
Laptops get three services only: a $50 laptop diagnostic with written findings (not credited toward anything), a $70 laptop cleaning for dust and fans, and laptop battery replacement for a flat $70 labor plus the cost of the battery, which varies by model and is quoted before ordering. Other laptop repairs, upgrades, and part replacements (screens, keyboards, charging ports, SSD/RAM, Windows or malware work) are not offered. Phones and tablets aren't serviced. Desktops and gaming PCs get the full service menu.
Do you build custom PCs?
Yes. Build labor is $120 for a Standard build, $190 for an Enthusiast build, and from $320 for a Showcase build (custom loops are quoted). Every build includes a Windows install, drivers, a BIOS update, a stress test, and cable management.
Can I bring my own parts?
Yes, customer-supplied parts are welcome. The part itself is covered only by its manufacturer. If a customer part turns out to be dead on arrival or incompatible, the re-work time is billed at the bench rate.
Do you overclock?
Not unless you ask for it, and I'll explain the risks first. Gaming optimization ($50) focuses on drivers, XMP/EXPO memory settings, Windows game settings, startup cleanup, and temperatures, with before-and-after benchmarks.
Is a Windows license included with a reinstall or build?
No. You supply the Windows license or buy one.
Your data
Will my files be safe?
You're responsible for backups unless you buy a backup service (data backup is $50 for up to 3 TB). A standard Windows reinstall ($80) does not keep your data; the reinstall with backup and restore is $120. I don't browse personal files beyond what the job requires.

No. On-site service isn't offered at this time; it's drop-off only. Mobile PC repair is planned for the future, but it isn't available or bookable yet.
What should I bring when I drop off?
The PC tower (and the power cable if it's unusual), a short note about the problem, your Windows PIN or password if you want it tested in Windows (optional), and any parts you're supplying in their boxes. Your monitor, keyboard, and mouse usually aren't needed.
